The Sound of St.Wolstans....

A few weeks ago, it was announced that our school are putting on a musical in December, The Sound Of Music! We're really lucky we're in TY the year they decided to do this because it means we can all get involved. I found out today I'm going to be selling raffle tickets at it :) I'm really happy to be involved in this and I'm sure the whole performance will be great in the end. Oh, and well done to Leah for getting the part of Maria, :) doing Banba proud!

The stress of travelling all around the world....

Our geography project is due NEXT WEEK! How quick has the last few weeks gone? It feels like only the other day, we were given this project and we were all so relaxed because it wasn't due for so long. Looking back, maybe we shouldn't of been so relaxed....
We have to put all the information about our 6 countries into one big scrapbook. So far we've put 2 countries into the scrapbook. The next week will be stressful trying to get it done but it'll all work out.
One of the countries we're doing is Cambodia. I found out that in Cambodia it's illegal to use water guns during New Years celebrations...What a weird law..

Blog Action Day - FOOOOD :)

So today is Blog Action Day, a day everyone blogs about one topic. This year the topic is food glorious food :) This worked out well because me, saoirse and brona are doing our young scientists project on the effects of fast food on your concentration, stamina and health so I'll just talk about that. While researching for our project I found an experiment done by an American doctor on the effects of fast food:
She bought a fast food burger and also made a home made burger. She left them both out for 11 days. After the 11 days the home made burger had completely rotted like normal food should. But the fast food burger stayed exactly the same as it had on the day she bought it. The appearance didn't change at all. It got me thinking about what is actually put into fast food and to be honest i don't think I want to know...Heres a picture of the experiment done by the doctor in America:
The burger on the left is the fast food one (unchanged after 11 days) and the one on the right is the home made burger....

Winners :D

So Class Banba won the Fun Walk :D We were sitting in irish when Ms. S announced it and the whole room just erupted and went crazy! We were all so happy that we won, it was great :) Mr. L was delighted aswell and came into us the next day with 'the fruits of victory' as he called it or Roses chocolates to everyone else.

LALALALALALA BANBA :)

8 Deadly Sins...

Yesterday we went to Newbridge for our second mini company workshop with Orla from Enterprise Ireland. We were there with St.Marys school from Naas who had almost the exact same uniform as us which made it hard if you're looking for someone in a room full of girls! For most of the workshop Orla talked about marketing and promotion for our businesses.
Our mini company idea is a nail varnish pen that has a remover on one side and the nail varnish on the other. We decided to call our company 'Indulgence' and our slogan is 'Only a fingertip away.' We are doing 8 different colours for the nail varnish so we are basing it around The 7 Deadly Sins but adding in an extra sin to make it 8 (theres 8 people in our team!) with each colour being a different sin (eg red = lust and green = envy.)
We think we have found someone in poland who will make the product for us so at the moment we're working with Mr.Walsh to get our porduct drawn up on solid works to send to the producer :)

Can we fix it?!

The annual fun walk was on today and it had to be the best one yet!
Class Banba dressed up as builders and we did our dance to bob the builder :) Mr L. dressed up as a school girl in our uniform and was being bullied by Ms. B who was also dressed in the school uniform! So being the mad cool builders we are, we marched in to fix the bullying :) We were the first class in the whole school to do our dance which got everyone excited because by the time we had to dance we were all so hyped up. The dance went really well and even if we don't win we all had such a great time, it was so fun. (especially dressing Mr L up!)
We didn't actually have to do the walk because every year TYs help people cross the roads so we just chilled with Ms Hughes pressing the button on the traffic lights!
Overall it was one of the best days of TY so far and I think everyone in Banba will agree that we have seriously bonded as a class and I cannot wait for the next few months. Heres a few photos of the day:

CAN WE FIX IT? YES WE CAN!

5 things to do this week...

Ok so Ms. L isn't in today but she's left us with the challenge of '5 things I have to do for TY this week.' The week is almost over so I'm going to do it for next week aswell...

1. Perfect our fun walk dance..
The fun walk is tomorrow!! In my last blog post everything was great, we were getting organised but then it turned into one big disaster. We couldn't organise anything but then at the start of this week with the help of Mr.Lawlor we finally decided on our dance. Hopefully we'll have another practise today to perfect it.

2. Finish the music script.
In music we're doing an opera to the movie 'Mean Girls.' I was put on the script commitee with Shannon so we  have to write the script. Its a lot harder than I thought but its fun and a challenge. We're hoping to get it finished after I finish this blog so i better hurry up!

3. Geography project
Our geography project is due in about 3 or 4 weeks so I have to keep working on it. I've completley finished Thailand so hopefully next week I'll be finished Nepal and Cambodia.

4. Home Ec....
We're still working on our outfit in home ec so I have to look around to see if theres any feathers, etc at home that we could use for our outfit. We're basing our outfit on The Black Swan and our colours are black and white. We have the top of the jeans cut to use as a high waisted skirt and next we have to sew our top to shape..

5. Mini company...don't mention it..
Aaah mini company is stressfull stuff!! Our group have our idea but we have to research and try find a company to make our idea. We're making a nail varnish pen that has the nail varnish on one side and remover on the other. I'm the finance manager in the group, lucky me! I have to collect the information from our survey to get the average price people would pay for the pen..

Busy times ahead...yay
